day 109 (66 days)

day 109

over the week end i didn't do much. i pretty much sat in my room and researched stuff online.
on monday i got to the office early and prcticed piano while waiting for the thanks giving meeting. while i was practicing andrea came in so i talked with her for a while. then maggie showed up and interupted our conversation. then we all congregated in the lounge and waited for ruth to show up.

we had the thanks giving meeting which took alot longer than it should have because people love to talk
i was gonna go for mashed potatoes but every one wanted to do somthing with potatoes. also since i have class till 5:30 i don't have time to make any kind of food that requires effort or heat. so i volunteered to get drinks. think (i think) mostly involves getting juice and maybe some wine i think that ruth will bring wine but i'm not sure. i dont think they will condone me buying a case of beer or somthing like that. since central is paying me back for the cost of every thing.

i stayed at the central office for several hours because it wasn't worth going back to the dorm to get food so i got a bread roll thing at the campus grocery store and did my home work in the office. then we had german class. first thing (on a monday mind you) we had a mock test to get us ready for the test next monday. we all did pretty terably. then we sat through another boring lecture and we finally got out. then i ran down stairs and started cooking my dinner (ramen noodles) class started as i walked in the door. we discussed the strausse dynasty. and we found out that we will each have to do a 10 minute presentation on one of the concerts. not sure how i'm gonna manage that i guess i'll learn from the first two. we also found out that we will have a music test on monday over hayden mozart and beethoven and other stuff. so music just got allot harder.

tuesday morning i went to the office and was hoping to practice piano but thomas practiced all morning and other people were waiting for it to. so i sat and did my home work then worked on the blue print book worksheets and eventually thomas finished up and the other people waitng had already left so i practiced some. i came back to the dorm and made lunch. (stirfry) then went back and practiced piano some more and talked to the other two people in my class (they didn't get the home work)

then i went to class in class we did excersices to prepare for the test and then after the break he told us that we would have to do presentations. we all mouned. the presentation has to be about 10 minutes of talking and 5 minutes of small group disscusion. and other stuff. then we signed up for times. the plan was to have some one present evey tuesday and thursday every week until christmas. but since we had the test on monday we convined him to have the first on wensday. then he asked who wanted to go first. no one answered. eventually the spainish guy said he could do it but only on that friday. so the teacher said ok then who wants to go on wenday. no one answered. eventually he said ok it will be faster this way and asked who would like to go after the spanish kid. and every one signe up (as long as they wern't first) i realized half way through that there was only a limited # of spots before christmas and who ever didn't have a time slot after he got to december 23 was going to be the first one. i eagerly voulunteered for the 18th of december. micheal (a central student) tried to voulenteer but the russian girl (who i will go off on later) took his time slot. so he was the only one left and he was first. after class we all met up in the central office and talked. micheal (who almost always gets the short end of the stick) was angry (as ussual) and he told me he hates that russian girl, she is so cocky and some day he was gonna "zum biespiele" her til she shut up. (zum biespiele translates into "for example" a phrase the germans love. the context means he is going to crush her in an argument someday)

its true the russian girl (lady i supose (25-30)), is extremly elitest, her arguments are all better than ours and she is also smarter than the teacher. we had to do a speaking excersice about our countries favorite sport. spain had soccer, sweden had skiing, turkey had wrestleing, america had football, russia however she listed off every olympic sport there was. and when the teacher told her there can be only one favorite she went off on him eventualkly he gave in to save time but she kept going. many times he states a fact and she agrees with him but keeps on going. i see now why russian novels are so long.

while we talked after class i suggested that micheal do his presentation on russia, or the bay of pigs, or trenoble. just to get a rise out of her.

then they went to class andi cam back to the dorm and started typing this.

tomarrow we are going (for vienna semanar) to the WWII resistance museum.
and saterday we are going to a string quartet concert. (it called the stradivari quartet but im not sure if that means the program inclued a realy strad or not)
then next week i have that big german test and a music test on monday. and thats as far as i have planed for now

thanks for reading.
